What is Operculina Turpethum Root Powder?
Operculina turpethum is a climbing vine of the morning glory family, found across India and other warm parts of Asia. Its root is known as Trivrit or Nishoth in Sanskrit and Hindi, and as Turpeth root or Indian jalap in English. This product is a fine powder made only from the dried root, sun-dried and finely ground.
Trivrit is one of the best-known roots in Ayurvedic texts and is described there as a pungent, bitter and strongly acting herb. Because it acts strongly even in small amounts, it is offered here as plant information and as a raw herb powder.
