What is Citrullus Colocynthis Fruit Powder?
Citrullus colocynthis is a trailing desert vine of the gourd family, found in the dry regions of India, Africa and the Middle East. Its round, yellow-green fruit is known as Indrayan Phal in Hindi, Indravaruni in Sanskrit, and Bitter apple, Colocynth or Desert gourd in English. This product is a fine powder made from the dried fruit, sun-dried and finely ground.
Indravaruni is a well-known plant in Ayurvedic texts and is described there as an extremely bitter, sharp and strongly acting herb. Because it acts very strongly even in tiny amounts, it is offered here as plant information and as a raw herb powder. It is not a food or a tea, and we do not give a recommended amount.
