Solanum Nigrum / Makoy
Makoy botanical name is Solanum Nigrum, and other common names are black nightshade, sunberry, wonder cherry, poison berry, Kaamani, Ghati, and Makoi, it is a small erect, delicate annual herb.
Health Benefits
The whole plant is antiperiodic, antiphlogistic, diaphoretic, diuretic, emollient, febrifuge, narcotic, purgative, and sedative. The plant has been used in Ayurveda to cure various health problems. Leaves, stems, and roots are used for external treatment, and fruit is used internally.
Uses with Instruction
- Take 5 grams of fresh leaves of Black Nightshade and cook with vegetables or lentils/pulses.
- Take 1 tsp of leaf juice and mix with any of these, coconut milk, cow milk, coconut water, fruit juice, and butter.
- Take 5 grams of makoy fruit powder, boiled with 2 cups of water. Helps to cure fever.
Side Effects
- If you are suffering from kidney disease, consult the doctor first before consuming Solanum Nigrum.
- Do not take Solanum Nigrum with liquor, it may interact with it and cause drowsiness.

Butea Monosperma / Palash Flower
Palash botanical name is Butea Monosperma and other common names are tesu, dhak ke Phool, Palash, bastard teak, Bengal kino, and butea gum. Butea also known as the “flame of the forest” with scarlet and orange flowers is a well-known tree in India.
Health Benefits
Butea gum, seeds, leaves, and flowers of the tree all have medicinal properties, the leaves of the tree are tonic and aphrodisiac. They are useful in arresting bleeding. It has anti-diarrheal, anthelmintic, anti-diabetic, anti-stress, and hepatoprotective properties.
Uses with Instruction
- Take 5 grams of Butea Monosperma leaves with water twice a day before a meal, helps to control blood sugar and diabetes.
- A decoction of Butea leaves is beneficial in diarrhea and dysentery.
Side Effects
- Consult the doctor if you are breastfeeding.
- Do not take without a doctor’s prescription if you are pregnant.

Cichorium Intybus / Chicory
Chicory botanical name is Cichorium Intybus, and other common names are kasni, blue daisy, blueweed, blue sailor, bunk, coffee weed, blue dandelion, & wild endive. It is mainly found in India and almost grows on all types of soil.

Chicory is an herbal tonic; it increases the secretion and discharge of urine. It is also a stimulant and a mild laxative. It helps to balance Pitta and increase the metabolism of the body. It is also a rich source of iron which helps in anemia and help in blood circulation.

- Take 5 grams of powder of each herb, chicory seeds, celery, and parsley, and mix them all. Taking this mixture twice a day helps to treat anemia.
- Take 5 grams powder of chicory seed with water twice after the meal, helps to cure constipation.
Side Effects
- If you are suffering from kidney disease, consult the doctor first before consuming Chicory
- Do not take Chicory with liquor, it may interact with it and cause drowsiness.

Operculina Turpethum / Indian Jalap
Nisoth botanical name is Operculina Turpethum and some other common names are terpeth root, Indian jalap, nishothra, pithori, trivrt, turbud. Turpeth is also known as Indian Jalap, it is a large, stout twining perennial herb with sap.

- Take 5 grams of Indian Jalap root powder with lukewarm water after meal and twice a day, beneficial in chronic constipation.
Side Effects
- Do not take Indian Jalap with liquor, it may interact with it and cause drowsiness.
- Do not take Indian Jalap if you are suffering from diarrhea, bleeding per rectum, rectal prolapse, or fecal incontinence.

Argyreia Nervosa / Vidhara mool
Vidhara Mool botanical name is Argyreia Nervosa, some common names are elephant creeper, wooly morning glory, silver morning glory, hawaiian baby woodrose, silky elephant glory, samudrasosh, and vidhara, it is mainly found in India and Africa.

Ocimum Tenuiflorum / Holy Basil
Holy basil botanical name is Ocimum tenuiflorum, other common names are Tulsi, Sacred Basil, or Tulasi, it is mainly found in India and is known as a sacred plant. In India, people worship the plant, and it is found in Indian houses and temples.

- Take a decoction of holy basil leaf, which is helpful in gout and gonorrhea. It is also useful in neuralgia.
- A few drops of holy basil fresh leaves in the ear, gives relief from earache and dullness of hearing.
- Take 10 grams of holy basil seeds, and be immersed in cold water for 3-5 minutes, take this mixture with sugar, help to treat diarrhea, piles, cough, kidney disorder, and fever.
Side Effects
- Do not take without a doctor’s prescription if you are pregnant.

Aegle Marmelos / Stone Apple
Bael botanical name is Aegle Marmelos, some other common names are Bengal quince, golden apple, Japanese bitter orange, stone apple, or wood apple, it is mainly found in India, Nepal, Bangladesh, and Sri Lanka.

The Aegle Maarmelos is one of the most useful medicinal plants. Its medicinal properties have been described in the ancient medical treatise in Sanskrit, Charaka Samhita. Uses with Instruction
- Take 5-10 leaves of Aegle Marmelos and soaked overnight in water, strained the water in a cup, and drink in the morning, helps to give relief from pain and discomfort.
- Take 10 grams of dried Aegle Marmelos fruit powder, 1 cup water, and ½ tsp jaggery or brown sugar. Mix all of them and cook for 5-7 minutes, giving relief from diarrhea and dysentery.
Side Effects
- Excessive intake of Stone Apple may produce a sensation of heaviness in the stomach.
- Sometimes Ayurveda herbs may interreact with allopathy or homeopathy, Consult the doctor before consuming.

Senna Alexandrina / Cassia Angustifolia
Senna alexandrina botanical name is Cassia Angustifolia, some other common names are sanay, senna, Alexandrian Senna, Alexandrinische Senna, Casse, Cassia acutifolia, Cassia angustifolia, Cassia lanceolata, Cassia senna. It is mainly found in India and Egypt.

Glycyrrhiza Glabra / Licorice

- Take 30 grams of Mulethi root powder, and a pinch of saffron and mix both in milk and make a paste. Apply this paste over bald patches at bedtime. This remedy is very effective in the initial stages of baldness.
- Take 10 grams of Licorice root powder with jaggery and water and take it after meal twice a day, helps to treat constipation.
Side Effects
- Do not use Licorice without consult if you are on medication of these: blood thinners, diuretics, steroids.
- If you are above 65 years and want to start Licorice, then consult the doctor and talk about the health conditions.

Bryonia Laciniosa / Shivlingi
Shivlingi seed botanical name is Bryonia Laciniosa linna and some common names are aivirali seed and Bryonia and diplocyclos palmatus, it is mainly found in India, Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Gujrat, Uttrakhand parts. - Take 6-9 grams of shivlingi seed powder with water or milk after the mensuration for days regularly.
Side Effects
- In some case studies, shivlingi has abortifacient properties which lead to abortion, if you are taking shivlingi for fertility or conception, then first consult your doctor for the right dosage.

Putranjiva Roxburghii / Putrajeevak
Putrajeevak botanical name is Putranjiva Roxburghii and some common manes are putranjiva, lucky bean tree, and kuduro, it is mainly found in Southeast Asia and India. It is an evergreen tree and grown as an ornamental in a garden.
